If you’re looking for Spring Elopement ideas in Maine there are so many great places to explore. Many of which are still available for those who want to book as early as this spring. That’s one of the greatest things about Elopements. They can come together quickly with the right idea and the proper guidance. Many of these places are still quiet before the crowds of the summer and perfect for couples seeking adventure along side solitude. There are many sunny days in spring but spring in Maine does bring the increased possibility of rain. That really does add to the adventure and provides that Moody Maine vibe a lot of people find appealing.

Elopements aren’t meant to be about perfect conditions. They are about embracing the adventure and the unpredictability of the day and just go with the flow. You might get a crisp sunny day in the 50’s or you might get a foggy morning, or a dusting of snow. By May things will warm up a bit and get into the low 60s with greenery returning to the landscape. Spring is really a special time because it allows for that moody cinematic backdrop with locations tending to be more quiet and intimate. That being said despite the fact that we embrace the elements it doesn’t mean that planning accordingly isn’t important and part of the logistics.
Part of the elopement planning process in Maine is planning for the weather. Choosing activities that are appropriate for the season, choosing locations that have multiple options that might provide some coverage, (believe it or not the trees help a lot with light rain), flexible timelines, layered outfits, and additional cozy options like blankets, jackets, extra socks, and handwarmers. And we always plan for a backup plan or two so we have options. Some of my favorite spring activities are the one’s that embrace the possibility of rain and are not greatly impacted if it does.
Two of my favorite activities to include in your Spring Elopement in Maine include Maine’s local sauna’s and spas or cold plunge opportunities.
Saunas at Glidden Point · Glidden Point Oyster Farms and Floating Sauna | The Pineapple Ketch have both sauna’s on or near the docks with options to alternate between both hot and cold and rest. It’s really a quiet luxury experience. And if it rains a little bit no big deal you’re jumping in the water anyway. Glidden Pond is set on the Damariscotta River surrounded by working oyster beds. You can eat fresh oysters and rip on drinks between rounds. The Pineapple Ketch is a wood fire floating sauna on the Kennebunk River. These experiences are Scandinavian wellness meets coastal Maine New England Charm and make for the perfect backdrop for a Maine Elopement during Spring. There are a few other locations that offer a similar experience in Maine
If cold plunging is not your thing. There are plenty of other spa experiences in Maine that could pair well with your Spring Elopement day. They tend to be a little more high end and relaxing but equally as wonderful. Some great spa’s to check out are
If you don’t mind embracing the elements but a water-based activity is not what you are envisioning. Hiking or skiing might be a really great activity to add to your spring elopement in Maine. There is usually still a decent amount of snow in the mountains in the spring. Where it starts to rain near the coast it still snows in the mountains. So your Spring Elopement could feel like a winter adventure as well just a little warmer temperature. WHICH IS ALWAYS LOVELY. Other trails that might be lower elevation or closer to the coast may have little snow remaining and could easily be hiked for a summit elopement or even to a coastal lighthouse elopement. Pair this with a beach or summit picnic or a roadside eatery or farmstand and you have a JAM packed day of fun (no pun intended).
Biking is also an amazing way to incorporate a little adventure in Maine without being overly strenuous. It allows for a great way to travel place to place and really make the most of your elopement day in Maine. You can also make your own food tour out of it by traveling to local eateries or breweries or join an biking excursion that has this option available. It’s also a great way to explore some of the smaller islands off the coast of Maine which can allow for an even more private and authentic Maine Elopement experience for spring.
